Ayurvedic Facial

A rejuvenating and purifying therapy that addresses aging, dryness, dehydration, stressed and tired skin, using a blend of herbal masques and essential oils. The skin is cleansed, toned and stimulated with rejuvenating massage, including Marma (similar to acupressure points) therapy for the head and shoulders.

In Ayurveda it is taught that there are 107 Marmas on the body. These are vital points were two or more types of tissues meet. Between the Marma Points are channels of energy called Nadis through which flows Prana, the life force. When we are healthy the energy flows freely but our lifestyle, emotional and physical stresses can lead to imbalances and blockages. In Ayurveda the face is seen as an important part of the anatomy because it is here that we receive Prana into our body. Of the 107 Marma points 37 are positioned on the head, face and neck. An Ayurvedic Facial Treatment involves isolating these points and massaging them in a specific way. Manipulating them addresses the quality of the flow of Prana through the Nadis and helps to correct imbalances.

The face is also richly supplied with nerves and blood vessels with a close proximity to the brain. Stimulating these has a direct effect on the brain and the nervous system and can activate deep centres of the brain, rebalancing and redirecting subtle energies from head to toe, gently and yet profoundly restoring equilibrium to the body.
Marma Therapy for the face improves the micro circulation that feeds the facial tissues and tones the muscles surrounding the Marmas. It can help to relieve insomnia, neuralgia, tired eyes caused by eye strain, sinus congestion, tension headaches and tension in the jaw.

Marma Therapy will also help to melt tension held in the facial muscles and dissolve stress from the body. It promotes a sense of being deeply nurtured.  As the Nadis relay energetic information between your mind, body and the system of chakras an Ayurvedic Facial goes beyond working on the skin to penetrate the body at a much deeper and more subtle level.
